Access the complete message thread for any customer conversation to see the full context.

Accessing Conversation History

  1. Open a conversation from the sidebar
  2. The full message thread is displayed automatically
  3. Scroll to see the complete history

Message Thread Display

Conversations show messages in chronological order:

John Doe 2 hours ago
Hello, I have a question about my account settings.
You 1 hour ago
Hi John! I'd be happy to help. What specifically would you like to know about your account settings?
John Doe 30 minutes ago
I can't find where to change my notification preferences.

Message Information

Each message shows:

  • Sender: Customer name or "You" for your replies
  • Timestamp: When the message was sent
  • Content: The message text (with markdown rendered)

Message Types

Incoming Messages

Messages from customers:

  • Displayed with a distinct background color
  • Show customer's name
  • Include submission timestamp

Outgoing Messages

Your replies:

  • Displayed with a different background
  • Show "You" as the sender
  • Include send timestamp

Scrolling and Navigation

Auto-Scroll

  • New messages automatically scroll into view
  • Thread stays at the bottom when new messages arrive
  • Manual scrolling is preserved when reading history

Viewing History

  • Scroll up to see older messages
  • All messages load automatically
  • No pagination needed

Conversation Timeline

Messages are organized chronologically:

  1. Initial Submission: Customer's first form submission
  2. Your Replies: Your responses to the customer
  3. Follow-ups: Additional messages from the customer
  4. Ongoing Conversation: Continuous back-and-forth

Message Context

Viewing history helps you:

  • Understand the Full Story: See the complete conversation context
  • Avoid Repetition: Know what's already been discussed
  • Provide Better Support: Reference previous messages
  • Track Progress: See how the issue evolved

First Message

The first message in a conversation is the original form submission:

  • Includes customer's name, email, and message
  • May include metadata if captured
  • Timestamp shows when form was submitted

Message Formatting

Messages display with:

  • Markdown Rendered: Formatted text appears correctly
  • Links Clickable: URLs are clickable in the thread
  • Code Formatted: Code snippets are styled appropriately

Searching History

Currently, conversation history is displayed in full. To find specific information:

  • Scroll through the thread
  • Look for keywords in message content
  • Use browser search (Ctrl/Cmd+F) to find text

Exporting History

Conversation history is stored in your account. To keep records:

  • Take screenshots of important conversations
  • Copy message text as needed
  • All history is preserved in your account
