Configuring Form Fields

Customize the labels and placeholders for your form's built-in fields, and add custom fields to collect additional structured information from your visitors.

Built-in Fields vs Custom Fields

SupportRetriever forms have two types of fields:

Built-in Fields (Name, Email, Message)

These core fields are present on every form:

  • Name: Identifies who submitted the form
  • Email: Required for replies (cannot be removed)
  • Message: The main inquiry or message content

You can customize the labels and placeholders for these fields, but they cannot be removed or reordered.

Custom Fields (Optional)

Additional fields you can add to collect specific information:

  • Department or topic selection
  • Priority or urgency level
  • Order numbers or account IDs
  • Product selection
  • Any structured data relevant to your workflow

See Adding custom fields to forms for complete guidance on creating and managing custom fields.
